When did SUP become more then just a hobby for you? Well SUP will always be a hobby just like all the other sports I do. I just want to do go and have as much fun as possible. Being able to travel and compete in such an incredible sport is an added bonus. Why did you choose Starboard? I chose Starboard, because they have the most diverse product line. They have been leaders in the windsurfing industry with their innovative designs and technology - so it only goes that they will be leaders in SUP's as well. I have been using their boards for the past couple years now - and I really like the way they ride and feel. Tell us about your quiver? / Which board is your favorite? I have the Tiki and it is one of the best board I have used. It is loose, turns really well and I still have the balance on it. Overall it is a great board. SUP has given you the chance to travel the world. Out of all travels, which one has been the most memorable? The most memorable trip was when the whole stand up team got together and went to Peru this past May. We had unreal waves and also had a lot of fun. We got to teach less fortunate kids in Chicama and Lima how to SUP. This was a great feeling to pass on to kids that don't have theses opportunities. Who do you respect in SUP? I respect Chuck Patterson because he is very good and has a lot Aloha. What are your 5 most played songs on your IPod? I really don't have a favorite song - I enjoy a variety of music. What inspires you? Seeing other kids out there ripping and most importantly having fun!! What's your biggest accomplishment in 2009? Well I have two, one is being the youngest kid ever to paddle SOLO across the Ka'iwi Channel (Molokai to Oahu 32 miles), and number two is doing the 11 city tour in Holland - completing it and being the youngest. What are your goals for 2010? My goals are to do as many contest as I can - as well as get more and more kids into this awesome sport. |
